 01 AsiaInfo Technologies and China Mobile Research Institute Jointly Launch the AI Native RAN Base Station Product

 

During the 2025 China Mobile Global Partners Conference, AsiaInfo Technologies and China Mobile Research Institute jointly launched AI native RAN base station (AISWare RANvolution). The product is newly developed by AsiaInfo Technologies based on China Mobile's CIS-RAN architecture and the technical system integrating communication, computing and intelligence. It enables dynamic sharing of base station computing power, endogenous edge large model services and endogenous intelligence in wireless networks. By delivering integrated communication, sensing, computing and AI capabilities, it helps communication operators further enhance 5G network architecture.

02 Technological Innovation in Three Aspects, Reshaping the Paradigm of Network Intelligence

1、AI-and-RAN: Building an elastic foundational computing power, and flexibly dealing with diverse service demands. AISWare RANvolution achieves the elastic supply of CPU/GPU heterogeneous computing power, upgrading base station into edge intelligence computing center. Through endogenous computing power technology from base station, it achieves intelligent allocation for multiple services such as communication transmission, intelligent computing, environmental sensing and AI inference, and supports the deployment of AI model with 14 billion large-scale parameters. Compared to traditional RAN and AI-separated architecture solution, it reduces costs by over 60% and saves energy consumption by over 40%.

 

2、AI-on-RAN: By leveraging the integrated communication, sensing, computing and intelligence technology, base station is upgraded from a single communication node into a composite facility integrating both communication and high-precision sensing capabilities. This enables sub-meter-level precise sensing and supports diverse scenarios such as UAV trajectory tracking and human vital signs monitoring. With a built-in "AI brain", it can deploy endogenous edge large model of base station that undergoes deep industry-specific optimization and supports access to enterprise's private data, enabling wind farm operation/maintenance and nuclear power AR guidance. With an application response latency less than 10ms, it significantly enhances the user experience.

 

3、AI-for-RAN: AISWare RANvolution builds an efficient, stable and self-healing AI-native wireless network. By leveraging built-in AI agents, it achieves intelligent scheduling for air interface resources, optimizes energy efficiency, autonomously completes service load balancing and fault recovery, thereby significantly enhancing the wireless network performance. After deploying the RAN wireless link self-adaptive Agent, the block error rate over the wireless air interface has been reduced by over 60%.


03 Deployment in Six Major Scenarios: Witnessing the Productivity Reconstruction

 

Currently, AISWare RANvolution has been deployed in the following six major scenarios, demonstrating its value in enhancing productivity across industries:

 

1、Intelligent Operation and Maintenance of Wind Farm: Providing end-to-end private 5G network solutions encompassing 5G base station, core network and endogenous edge large model to achieve full wireless network coverage across the site. The system supports 24/7 uninterrupted communication and data transmission, while providing operation and maintenance engineers with a real-time industry-specific intelligent assistant, thereby comprehensively enhancing operation and maintenance efficiency and response capabilities.

 

2、Nuclear Power Remote Operation and Maintenance Expert Guidance: The nuclear power AR remote expert guidance function integrates AR technology with endogenous intelligent applications to enable remote collaborative operation, supporting efficient operation/maintenance and rapid fault localization in radiation hazard zones of the nuclear island. This function can significantly enhance maintenance efficiency, effectively shorten overhaul cycles, and reduce comprehensive operation and maintenance costs.

 

3、Intelligent Enterprise Meetings: The integrated communication and sensing base stations ensure high-quality network connectivity while enabling participant counting and behavioral sensing. Leveraging AI voiceprint recognition supported by endogenous computing power of base station and large model capabilities, the system can recognize speakers in real time, record speech contents and automatically generate precise meeting minutes, thereby assisting enterprises in the establishment of efficient and intelligent meeting processes.

 

4. Healthcare Monitoring: Leveraging integrated communication and sensing technology, the system enables non-contact vital signs monitoring, providing 24/7 health surveillance services for scenarios such as nursing home and rehabilitation center. The solution significantly enhances the convenience and continuity of health management while ensuring user privacy protection.


5. Indoor Target Sensing: The integrated communication and sensing RU combines radio frequency access and sensing capabilities, while ISAC² BBU provides communication, sensing, and AI-powered imaging services. Together, they enable precise target identification, people counting, posture recognition, electronic fence management and other functions in key indoor areas under scenarios such as energy, mining and electric power, thereby comprehensively enhancing indoor safety management level. 6. Low-Altitude UAV Communication and Sensing: AI-RAN-enabled low-altitude private 5G network provides dedicated communication with extensive coverage, high reliability and robust security for low-altitude UAV, thereby enhancing the efficiency of industrial UAV in low-altitude operations such as tour inspection and logistics.
